I would say Gen X because I’m Gen X and was an adult when it came out. But it’s close - I’m pretty old for X.

I am pretty firmly Grunge and Alternative, graduated from high school in ‘93. 500 miles is more of a boomer song for me.

I’m a little older than you ( graduated 1985), but still a clear Gen Xer, and remember it well. . It’s fair to say that the Proclaimers themselves were Boomers though, so maybe that makes it a Boomer song?

Most of the grunge era people are still older than me- barely Gen Xers themselves.

As someone on the edge of Gen X, I disagree. My parents are boomers and there is still a big divide between their generation and those in their 40s. Don’t get me wrong, Gen X is certainly become curmudgeons , but the boomers are still the king of that hill
